Virgin Atlantic/GTMC Fares & Ticketing Level 1 (VA1)
Virgin Atlantic’s International Air Transport Association (IATA) Level 1 course is an internationally recognised qualification that provides a thorough introduction to the practical skills involved in the planning, quoting and booking of air travel. The skills that you learn on this course will provide you with the essential knowledge to become a professional within the travel industry.
The training includes:
• Interpretation of ticket types, including manual, OPTAT, ATBs and e-tickets
• Understanding IATA geographic areas and Global Indicators
• Understanding IATA Airline Coding System
• Identifying fare types, including Apex, Budget, Pex, Excursion and Normal
• Constructing Fares in Neutral Units of Construction (NUCS), using the basic principles of
the mileage system
• Baggage allowances
• Tax and security charges
• Completion of Miscellaneous Charge Order (MCO) documentation and Multiple Purpose
Documents (MPD)
