Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Those of you seeking aviation as a career must have a Commercial Pilot Licence. This entitles you to work legally as a pilot, and to be paid for the work you do. The CPL follows on from your Private Pilot Licence.
For aeroplane students, this course includes the minimum flight time required by the CAA of 150 flying hours in a single-engine aircraft over and above PPL, therefore 200 in total, 100 of which must be solo. This includes 10 hours simulated instrument flying and a cross-country component. For helicopter students, this course includes 100 hours flight time over and PPL, therefore 150 in total, 50 of which must be solo. This includes 10 hours simulated instrument flying and a cross-country component.
