With undoubtedly some of most picturesque landscapes in world, New Zealand lays claim to having some of the finest walks in the world including the Milford, Routeburn and Kepler tracks to name just a few. All of which are frequented by well over 10,000 walkers a year!
New Zealand now boasts one of the most exciting pathways that will attract visitors from all over the world with the Te Araroa- the long pathway – a national walkway which runs the length of the country. Te Araroa is due to open this weekend will be celebrated with ceremonies at Cape Reinga at the northern most tip of New Zealand, to Stirling Point in Bluff in the South Island, and Island Bay in Wellington.
The track was a vision of Bob Usher over 44 years ago and has taken the endless dedication of volunteers to create the continuous 3000km route to ensure that his vision became a reality. The track is a must do for New Zealanders and visitors alike, either spending the time to take in the entire 3000km or just taking in parts of Te Araroa in manageable sections to suit your time and ability.
Te Araroa passes down the coastline, through forests, across farmland, over volcanoes and mountain passes, along river valleys, and on green pathways through seven cities taking in some of the most unbelievable scenery which for many it is difficult to put into words the mere beauty of, many believe it must be seen to be truly appreciated.
