A Big Thanks to all the RWC Volunteers

A Big Thanks to all the RWC Volunteers With the fanfare of the Rugby World Cup finished, what can be quickly forgotten are the thousands of hours that all the dedicated volunteers across New Zealand put into the World Cup to make it the successfully event it was. The Tauranga City Council has now recognised the volunteers for their efforts with a celebration at Baycourt Theatre, giving them the opportunity to reflect on the enormity of the event and their role in it as well as the chance to catch up with new friends.

The volunteers in the Tauranga region were awarded with a certificate, a poster with a collage of all the volunteers’ faces from the region in the shape of the Webb Ellis Cup and a flag that was used around the city during the World Cup. For the volunteers, these are treasures to keep for years to come and to show to their grandchildren.

Tauranga alone had 54 volunteers and Quantum Education’s Tauranga centre had two volunteers who showed their dedication to Tauranga by giving up their time to help make the event a success in the region: Tania, a Course Advisor for Quantum Education Group, was part of the Hosting Team, and Anaru, a student with Quantum Education Group, was a volunteer in the Transportation Team.

Tania said “Participating as a volunteer at the Rugby World Cup and being a representative for New Zealand on the world stage was a once in a life time opportunity and one I did not want to miss!”

The team at Quantum Education Tauranga would like to thank Tania and Anaru for playing their part and hope it will inspire others in the future to volunteer for similar events.
