Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design
Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design was established in 1982 and is New Zealand’s leading private tertiary arts and design institute. Whitecliffe offers internationally recognised programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is offered over four years with majors in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Fashion Design or Photography. The postgraduate programmes including a Master of Fine Arts, MA in Arts Therapy, or MA in Arts Management are each offered to appropriately qualified applicants as a two year low residency programme.
The pre degree Foundation Certificate enabling students to create a portfolio is also offered at Whitecliffe. Completion of this programme will assist students in meeting requirements for entry into degree level study. Exit qualifications are gained after each year of study in the undergraduate programme is successfully completed.
Whitecliffe provides an innovative and rewarding environment with low student-to-lecturer ratios that enable lecturers to focus on the individual needs of students. The vibrant student community is exposed to the contemporary arts and design world through exhibitions, international guests and industry professionals and Whitecliffe graduates are acknowledged for their innovation, individuality of design and for their creative thinking skills. As part of encouraging a career in the arts, Whitecliffe also provides comprehensive professional grounding in areas such as business, marketing and ethics. International students are warmly welcomed into the student body of 450 students and are well supported by faculty and staff.
