Overview
This short course is an ideal progression for those who have previously studied the short course in Interpersonal Communication Skills for Counselling, or have an equivalent amount of experience in the same topic. This course of study will greatly improve the quality of support you may be able to provide for others, through the development of confrontation, focusing and influencing interview skills. These interview skills will also prove invaluable to you throughout your day to day life.

· Confrontation |
A skill used to encourage self awareness in the individuals you are supporting. This should only be used once a trusted relationship has been developed. |

· Focusing |
This skill is useful in guiding the flow of conversation to topics which may be important to explore or clarify, however should be used sparingly as a means of redirecting the topic of conversation. |

· Influencing |
Explores the skill of being able to assist an individual to change the way they think and/or behave. This is a skill used to explore alternatives, and ways of thinking and behaving within a relationship. |
